Examples of my sand sculptures can be seen by scrolling down. Click the small pictures underneath to get a larger picture and then click the enlarged picture to return! I make sand sculptures since 2004. You will find the most recent sand sculptures at the top of this page. Some sand sculptures are very big, so I can not make them only by my self. In this cases I will name the persons I worked with.

The weather was good and the project was running smooth. So I had time to carve something myself. A wall with Italian paintings.

Zhoushan World Wonders of Islands

Sunday the 14th of september 2008 I'm flying to Zhoushan for the second time in my life. Tomorrow 10 international artists will work together with a team of Chinese artists to start carving the 10th sand sculpture on this beach. And for this project I'm Artistic leader. My work started over a month ago with helping to design the individual sand sculptures. After this I made the Artist Impression. The theme for the project is World Wonders of islands.

When I arrive the sand is untouched, it will remain untouched during the hole first working day because weather brought cast predicted a typhoon.

On thursday the project starts!

Zhoushan World Wonders of Islands

Here you can see the real sand sculpture of Madagascar next to the sketch I made for it. This sculpture won the first price in a competition with 10 other sand sculptures from islands. The sculpture is made by Kevin and Jacub.

Sometimes there is time for me to help out a little. Here I made the scuba diver for Australia.

Among world famous islands we also make sand sculptures from famous local islands. On a beach of Xiushan Island in Daishan County, east China's Zhejiang Province, ten thousands of tourists from home and abroad like to play sports named "Crazy for Mud". Programs include speed skating, hula hoop, and tug-of-war are all carried out on sea mud. These sports also mark the opening of the Sea Mud Carnival on the island's beach.

The project is divided in a part for international artists and a part for Chinese artists. Here we see the sculpture of Duangu Port by the Chinese artists.

An overview from the project in progress.

During this event CCTV is organizing an extra sand sculpture competition for international tv. This is a lot of fun and will spice up the project:) Two international teams and three Chinese teams with each two persons are competing in the competition.

2008 Blankenberge 2008

Blankenberge - a fairytale village

On Monday the 16th of June I started in the sand for this project in Belgium. The two weeks before this sand project I made props out of foam to decorate this project in Blankenberge. This year the theme is Fairytale Castle and I'm making the village that lays between the castles and farmland. For this sculpture I used a particular perspective point from which everything seems to be totally vertical. Though from other angles the sculpture is quiet in a slope :)

Blankenberge - a fairytale village

I worked alone on this sculpture for two weeks.

I have used elements from other sculptures around me to blend in. These flowers for example are also used in a sculpture opposite of mine.

That's me in front of my leaning sculpture:)
