2007 Chachoengsao 2007

Chachoengsao - story by Soonthornpoo

Monday, October the 15th I'm in Thailand, one hour driving from Bangkok in the place called Chachoengsao. This project is dedicated to the kings 80th birthday. It takes me four and a half day to make the sculpture of the story by Soonthornpoo (above). The sand contains a lot of clay and stones, so every sculpture is veneered with a thin layer of sifted sand, This cost a lot of extra time!

My part has roughly been blocked out before I come to help. I'm making the left side of the temple according to what Kevin is making on the right.
